Wittnauer Chronograph ref 235T

Brand: Wittnauer

Case: 36mm (excluding original crown) all stainless steel

Movement: Valjoux cal. 72, manual winding

Bracelet/ Strap: Navy Horween shell cordovan, 18mm

Features: Arabic numerals, tritium lume, blue’d steel hand set, tachymeter & telemetry scale, 12-hour counting chronograph with 30-minute intervals, pump pushers, column wheel chronograph, signed crown, screw down case back

Condition: In overall very good condition. The dial is clean with no major blemishes of any kind. Has a light patina throughout. The case is un-polished with some dings on the outer part near 8 & 5. The Valjoux 72 movement runs very well keeping accurate time and all chronograph functions work as they should.

In-depth: It has been speculated until recently that the Wittnauer model tested by NASA along side the Speedmaster was the reference 242T. Just a few weeks ago it was confirmed by NASA that it was in fact the reference 235T that lost out to be the Moon watch. Coming in at a 36mm and thick case makes it an easy wear. The multi colored dials really draw the eye in the blue and red. The 235T is powered by the famous Valjoux 72 and runs buttery smooth. Who wouldn’t want to own a part of space history?
